Annotation

This study examines speakers’ and listeners’ perspectives on mitigation in (dyadic role play) interaction, and the impact of imposition and uncertainty on mitigation. Too much mitigation may be harmful and speakers and listeners employ diverging emotion words to feature their interactions and also their tilt to deal with discourse goals or judgments. Advice for prospective mitigation research comprises the usage of both role play and spontaneous interactions, an enhanced deliberation of emotion, and further analysis of speaker and listener roles in mitigated interactions.
