Annotation

This study aims at exploring pun translation from a relevance theoretic view, according to which the link between a translation and its source text is regarded as based on interpretive similarity, rather than on equivalence. The inquiry performed in this study draws on one hundred and ninety Spanish and Latin American film titles including puns and their translations ('strategies) for the Anglo-Saxon or international market. Strategy selection is defined, among other factors, by the relevance principle.
