Annotation
This paper uses a novel, mixed Conversation- and Membership Categorization Analysis to discuss how first and second language-Japanese speakers apply people and language categories to self and others when identities and language ideologies appear in the course of common conversations. The study also reveals how interlocutors react to such language ideologies.
