This article discusses how primary school children employ lunch encounter food talk to organize social space, utilizing diverse cultural and social models. The explored food registers are the Health and the Halal register. There appears to be a particular rendition of the Health register, whilst the Halal register is trivialized. More generally, it is argued that food event analysis allows to grasp the daily importance for children of major concepts like health, ranking, and globalization.
