This article proposes three psychological approaches to ethnic identity and indicates how each of these theoretical models might engender divergent research questions concerning the link between language and ethnicity. It is argued that social psychological and sociolinguistic researchers might teamwise further comprehension of the connection between language and ethnicity, especially via a more fully expressed “social context” analysis.
