This paper demonstrates how case file references by different involved professionals in a Dutch criminal court trial are chosen to build event versions and how their sequential insertion adds to obtaining these different versions while pursuing their respective institutional goals. As witnesses are rarely heard anew in Dutch criminal court, it is important to grasp how their written voices are revived.
