Annotation

This corpus analysis (of recapitulation in the Dr. Harold Shipman murder trial) demonstrates how a judge’s summing-up discourse of the defendant’s words arranges and summarizes the evidence for the jury, employing the power of quotation and judicial (re)organisation to make the jury obelize the opposed material and to foster meaning- and decision-making.
