This study examines the function of images in digital story-structuring and their role in global meaning construction from personal experiences. Images are shown to play an important role as evaluative devices via which local, culturally proper aspects in digital narratives connect with a global viewpoint for a universal audience. The employed methodology is a blend of the Labovian narrative schema (1972) and a multimodal – chiefly visual – analysis (Kress and Van Leeuwen, 1996).
