This paper discusses how UK party leaders' type, number, and key of rivals' quality face attacks shift across televised 2010 pre-election debates. Key selection determines the situation in which the face attack must be grasped and a better insight in face work in political debate requires a description of the implicatures produced by prosodic choices like key.
