Annotation

Although relevant Estonian language policy documents apparently rightly seize the English-Estonian tension, the most frequently employed language for Ph.D. dissertations at four major public universities over the last few years is superbly English, only the humanities offering some counterweight to that trend. In previous decades, English was lacking in Estonia’s scientific production and Estonian alongside Russian was significantly used in that setting.
