Annotation

Modern Hebrew or more fittingly “Israeli” is a mix of Hebrew, Yiddish and other languages. Its grammar is different from that of Hebrew, and it has been the mother tongue of most Israeli-born Jews for circa hundred years. For most students, Israeli educational aims of knowledge of biblical Hebrew and understanding of the Hebrew Bible flop due to an improper connection between Biblical and modern Hebrew, the former being a foreign language for modern Israelis, whilst Israeli ought to be recognized as a rightful, distinct tongue.
