Annotation

Examining what borderlands research may add to globalization comprehension as currently framed in sociolinguistics, this paper argues that the particular borderland territoriality elucidates localization which (cfr Waters, 2001) includes "a reflexive community reconstruction in the face of the dehumanizing impact of rationalizing and commodifying'', a referencing against global landscapes. This paper also examines continentalization as a globalization-patterned African social process, by considering the effect of Nollywood as a cultural industry across national borders.
