To distinguish the series of religious and ethnic identity perceptions in Singapore and Malaysia, discussions amid ethnically-diverse Singaporean and Malaysian focus groups were compared, with a focus on content and discourse strategies. It is shown that rivalling perceptions on a multicultural society exist, both across various ethnic and religious groups and between the studied countries.
