Annotation

The novel hot and cold ethnicity theory has been designed to account for modalities of ethnolinguistic vitality in order to distinguish patterns and rationales behind ethnic group activism in former Soviet republics (taking as example the city of Odessa). It is proposed that informal (engagement with) policies may be as pertinent and effective as formal ones.
