Annotation

This paper explores what individual background factors enhance or decrease the use of English loanwords in L1 isiXhosa–L2 English bilinguals residing in Cape Town, employing a picture naming task and a background survey. A small positive impact of isiXhosa presence in primary and secondary schools on isiXhosa use was also discerned.
