This mixed-method analysis discusses changes in (in)direct intercultural contact and language-learning stances and exertion of international students in the UK. Whereas written and media contact increased during the academic year, spoken contact decreased. It is demonstrated that contact experiences, socio-environmental elements and inner learner variables dynamically influence each other and jointly may play a significant role in international students' language-learning experiences.
