Annotation

This paper explores the educational conditions and language policies affecting English as instruction medium in rural, Ugandan secondary schools and the way teachers steer them throughout the curriculum in order to insert English language and content. It is argued that language policies might become unusable when shifted from rather well-equipped urban to badly equipped rural contexts.
