Annotation

Whilst concurring with Walker's (2014) call to separate form and function in linguistically-apt conversation analysis, this study on transcripts argues that a transcripts' detail volume can never be “comprehensive” (under whatsoever standards) but is defined by a research question. Glosses are inevitable for interactional details beyond the research focus. The presente data are in American English.
