This paper combines discursive psychology with argumentation studies to review the regularities recognized in two data sets: parental talk and identity negotiation in focus group discussions amid indigenous Greeks inhabiting Central Northern Greece and in interviews with migrant women with children, domiciled in the greater London region. Furthermore, two topics appeared stereotypic in talking about ‘others’: security versus insecurity and hierarchies.
