This paper examines the (speech) representation of the Greek national elections in a British broadsheet newspaper and their recontextualisation via the spectrum of crisis. It is claimed that a polarised crisis image is construed that positions Greece as either reliant on or non reliant on Europe. This double-voicing appears to add to the perpetuation of command and social control and assists dominant discourses running in the wider socio-cultural context.
