Annotation

This paper attempts to distinguish the polarising rhetoric of Greek mainstream political parties during the ‘Grecovery’ period, concentrating on the word-war between New Democracy and Syriza, in response to the 4th anniversary of the murder of a 15-year-old pupil in December 2008. It is argued that a systematic, evident discourse analytic methodology of political rhetoric, grounded on history and (re)forming collective memories, engenders an interdisciplinary method that joins and links political rhetoric, argumentation and critical discourse analysis.
