In accord with long-established age stereotypes, listeners evaluated older speakers as less potent and engaged than younger speakers, but attributed them greater wisdom and recognized them as good storytellers. These positive impressions are read within an evolutionary-ecological view, proposing that some age-linked vocal qualities unveil traditional, adaptive features connected to older adulthood.
