Via text mining by RapidMiner software of Domestic Chinese and Philippine newpaper accounts of the Scarborough Shoal conflict, this study demonstrates how two opposed, nationalistic versions of the China-Philippines Maritime international dispute may be linguistically established by domestic media. It also underlines the explanatory power of positioning theory in the domain of international relations and media assay.
