This paper proposes the findings of a perceptual study of indexical meanings of alveolar versus fronted "s" in the different registers of “modern Copenhagen speech” and “street language”. Results demonstrate that the [s+] points to femininity and queerness when it takes place in “modern Copenhagen,” whilst the (s)-variation has a divergent and less important impact when emerging in “street language.”
