This paper discusses how southern Ghana Adamorobe Sign Language (AdaSL) is a “shared sign language,” employed by all deaf people and a great number of hearing Akan-speaking people. Hearing interviewees hold experiential perception that everything can be said in AdaSL, underscore the common roots of AdaSL and Akan, and label AdaSL as “natural.”
