Annotation

This paper explores the link of neoliberalism, globalization, and English spread, employing as a case study English-language education (ELE) policies in Taiwan between 2000 and 2008. The structural function of English as a precious capital is investigated next to language ideologies concerning the ‘earlier-the-better’ argument for L2 learning and the native-speaking teacher's glorification.
