L. considers the following paradox concerning affectives: assuming that negative-polarity items occur only in affective contexts, one could expect that the complement of 'regret' is an affective context; assuming that 'or' always gives rise to entailments of each of its disjuncts in affective contexts leads one to think that 'regret' is not affective.
