Explicating the definition of Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) is crucial if CLIL foreign/second-language (L2) teaching in Europe is to systematically develop and upgrade and if CLIL educators are to profit from the acquired knowledge and experiences in other educational (e.g. immersion) settings.
