Annotation

Film-retelling oral narratives from 160 English as a foreign language learners are examined with respect to glibness, lexical diversity, and syntactic intricacy. Regression and correlational analyses demonstrate that input is stronger related to oral performance measures than starting age, and that accumulative exposure to and, particularly, contact with high-standard input are good forecasters of foreign language learners’ oral performance.
