Using data from two restaurants in Sydney and Tokyo, this study reports how linguistic resources, everyday tasks and social space are inlaced in terms of metrolingual multitasking. The link between metrolingual multitasking and spatial repertoires elicidates how multilingualism from below functions in intricate urban places.
