Annotation

This study discusses the linguistic and social motivations and strategies employed by three groups of speakers, i.e. young women, drag queens, and a monster of the Newfoundland community (each with their distinct social identities), to retrieve and reform a major, traditional, relic speech feature (verbal –s extension) of Newfoundland English. This reconstruction might alter a path of decay and produce a special identity that motions both to the global and to community history.
