Annotation

This study explores the impact of culture and situational characteristics on in-group partiality shown as deception. In a 2 culture (U.S. vs. Russian) × 2 lie target significance (high vs. low) × 2 result significance (high vs. low) independent group test, the majority of Russian participants replied fallaciously to a hypothetic scenario, to conceal an in-group member's underperformance. This study also investigates cross-cultural differences in deceit vindication.
