The photovoice method reveals that Five Asian international students from KU Leuven faced academic adjustment challenges in four fields: academic activities and resources, languages and time management. Students’ socio-cultural adaptation was outlined in two broad topics: cultural differences and socio-cultural adaptation strategies. For host culture elements that are relatively facile to adjust to, students commonly assume an integration or assimilation acculturation strategy, whereas for key cultural values and ideologies, they are more prone to follow a separation strategy.
