Annotation
This study shows that American host nationals’ perceptions of Chinese international students’ cultural adaptation strategies influence their alacrity to communicate with these students. They appear most willing to communicate with assimilated and integrated Chinese students. Results are debated in light of the common ingroup identity model (Gaertner et al., 1994), the acculturation framework ( Berry, 1980) and anxiety/uncertainty management theory (Gudykunst, 1988).
