Annotation

This study uses Gudykunst's (2005) Anxiety and Uncertainty Management theory of communication, to presume that original cross-group friendships diminish intergroup anxiety and enhance self-assurance in communication which in turn raises positive attitudes towards further intercultural contact. The model was evaluated in a study involving Spanish-speaking immigrants in Germany, and proved to be a good fit.
