Using critical discourse analysis and the Multilayered Model of Context (Berlin i.a. 2011), this article examines evidentiality as displayed in politicial debates during the 2010 American Midterm Congressional Elections. As a group, politicians appear inclined to employ those evidential forms that enhance claims more often.
