This study asserts that a “recycling” (of formerly experienced utterances) explanation, as proposed e.g. for children's utterances by Dąbrowska and Lieven (2005), can also account for adults' capacity to generate intricate coherent speech in real time, and examines the impact of such a perspective for language representation and processing theories.
