Annotation

This study argues that early kindergarten examining of and working with linguistic diversity may generate metalinguistic abilities beneficial to literacy and language acquisition, as exemplified by the impact of an awakening to languages (AtL) programme on phonological awareness development in Portuguese preschoolers.
