This article advocates more neuroimaging studies directly conducted on multilingual participants, in which factors like age and way of acquisition, language exposure and competence, and interlinguistic distance are better verified. Presently, these factors account for a big part of brain activation differences between L1, L2 and L3. Finally, more advanced neuroimaging methods are required to apprehend non-invasive activity.
