This paper confirms a better recall of emotional words in both native (here: Finnish) and later-learned languages, as far as the latter are perceived as 'emotional' (in this case: English L2 versus Swedish L3). The quantity and frequency of daily exposure to a specific language are two crucial factors in fixing that language's emotionality level for a speaker.
