Annotation

This eye tracking study unveils that participants, watching a film under standard (FL soundtrack and NL subtitles), reversed (native language (NL) soundtrack and FL subtitles), or intralingual (FL soundtrack and FL subtitles) subtitling conditions, read the subtitles regardless of subtitling conditions. No vocabulary acquisition is attested and subtitle reading is further debated in relation to subtitle saliency and automatic reading conduct.
