This paper explores whether English–Spanish bilinguals flexibly alter their motion event classification preferences based on the language in which they verbally encode them, and whether or not they base their similarity (of motion events in a triad task) judgments on the path of motion. Findings back up “thinking-for-speaking” (Slobin, 1996) in late bilinguals.
