This ethnomethodological approach to informal face-to-face office interactions, focuses on (visit) closings and in particular the embodied resource of walking away. During closings, parties develop the major features of their professional relationship and of the task at hand, and this is attained via the interactional work to reach closings. It is also demonstrated that embodied resources and interaction sequentiality play an important role in the creation of deontic power in office organizations.
