Annotation

Hyperbole does not closely relate to either metaphor or irony but constitutes a distinctive figure of speech, characterized by the unconcealed overstatement of an apposite scalar property to render an evaluation of a situation. Its relative plainness permits the utilization of a set of independent devices of figurative linguistic communication covering loose use, simile, metaphor, and ironical and other attitudes' expressions.
