Annotation

This article reports the beliefs of 178 German English language teachers and students on German vague language (use). They underscored that these forms were reserved for family and good friends, and conveyed intimacy. They were judged unfit for formal contexts, as they might be linked to a low educational level and youth talk. They also indicated negative implications of disinterest and impressions of idleness and inability that vague language can project.
