This study reviews some of the more recent developments in politeness research to (re)define its focus. There is a tilt to creatively draw upon methods from other domains (like identity construction research). Attempts of cultivating an interdisciplinary approach within interpersonal pragmatics are especially discussed in an effort to sketch potential research paths.
