This article debates applications and interactional functions of quotidian (re)framing, lowering psychological severity and redirecting participants’ quotidian sense of self, using examples in a series of linguistic and social contexts, from older Japanese women's conversations to a talk show to public event interactions of two American presidents. This study elucidates the interest of examining how people agentively throw away the adopted identities to obtain a better feeling of self.
