Annotation

This study examined whether people truly deduce greater deliberation and cross-field mappings when faced with alleged pragmatic signals of metaphor. No evidence was found to back the deliberate metaphor proposal. This conclusion questions the psychological reliability of the opinion that some metaphors are generated and grasped as being deliberate.
