This article examines how Taiwanese gay men reconfigure Mandarin linguistic practices to voice their queer identities. Focusing on context , three major linguistic stylizations, broadly performed in gay circles, are identified as kinship soap opera, geisha memoir and celebrity stardom, to elucidate the link between language and subjectivity. Vernacular utterances and linguistic stylizations generate collective pathways of oppositon, accommodation and pleasure.
