Annotation

A certain amount of linguistic variation in morphology, lexicon, and phonology of nonsectarian and sectarian (Mennonite and Amish) Pennsylvania German correlates with variation in religious affiliation, but geography and speaker age exert more influence. Sectarian speakers hold folk linguistic perceptions of variance in language use, relatable to their shared humility value.
